简要阐述了美国研发下一代统一预报系统的背景、目标和主要进展,总结了其采用的开放式研发机制和取得的初步成效;分析了新形势下中国数值预报模式研发面临的机遇和挑战;借鉴美国的经验提出对中国数值预报模式研发的启示。

Abstract:

This article offers a concise overview of the backgrounds, objectives and significant advancements in the research and development of the next-generation Unified Forecast System in the United States. It provides a summary of the open development mechanisms utilized and the preliminary accomplishments attained in UFS. It also analyzes the opportunities and challenges that China faces in numerical weather prediction model research and development in light of new circumstances. Drawing upon the experience of the United States, this paper presents suggestions to inspire further progress in numerical weather prediction model research and development in China.
