Abstract：
For the first time in its history, the World Meteorological Organization has addressed the UN Security Council on therisks to international peace and security posed by climate change and climate-related disasters. Previous UN Security Council debates on the topic of climate change are analyzed. The comparison shows that the statement of WMO made a vital contribution to the dissection and inspection of climate change issues from a scientific perspective, and the role which WMO played is irreplaceable within the UN system.
